Your destination will be the Saona island which is a true paradise on earth. Saona is a tropical island located a short distance from the mainland on the south-east tip of the Dominican Republic, near La Romana Province.

It is the largest offshore island of the Dominican Republic and also a protected nature reserve which forms part of the National Park of the East. It is about 102 km2 in size and makes up about one-quarter of the total land mass of the Park. It is approximately 22 km wide from east to west and about 7 km from north to south at its widest point. It is separated from the Dominican Republic mainland by a narrow channel called the Catuano Channel that is only aprox. 2 km wide. This channel is an ecologically important area since it is densely populated with mangroves and serves as a nursery for tropical fish, sea turtles, and many invertebrate species.

Our tour combines a relaxing cruise on a beautiful catamaran and an exciting speed boat ride. The blue Caribbean, the music, the palm trees, the BBQ on the beach. These all makes for a heavenly experience.

We start our tour with a bus ride from your hotel to Bayahibe which is a typical fishermen's village. Once there we board a comfortable Catamaran to enjoy a ride along the coast of East National Park and cruise to the Saona Island. Loosen up on deck soaking up the sunshine while relaxing on the catamaran's net. The sailing tour to Saona Island takes aprox. 1.5 hours. You will be surrounded by white beaches, clear turquoise waters and countless palm trees and with a professional crew, you are assured of the most friendly and relaxed service.

Once on Saona island float and relax in the endless shallow turquoise waters. You will also have time to explore the white sandy beaches of the Saona Island which have been used on many occasions by film-makers and advertisers looking for a stereotypical "desert island" setting for their film or product.

A fine barbecue lunch will be served buffet-style right on the beach of the Island and under the shade of the palm trees.

On the journey back from Saona you will enjoy an exhilarating speedboat ride along the beautiful coastline of the National Park. On your way back to mainland you will stop at a "Natural swimming pool", one of the highlights of this fabulous excursion. This is an area of sand banks that allows you to have the unusual experience of being in shallow, crystal clear water far from shore. Enjoy some drinks while standing or take a dip in this nature's fantastic spot. In the "Natural pool" there are also many starfishes as they love the shallow sandy banks. While being there please respect the 10 second rule! ie. don't keep the starfish out of the water for more than 10 seconds at a time and always remember to put them back in the water! After arriving again in Bayahibe you will board your bus to drive back to your hotel and unwind from an unforgettable day in this Caribbean Paradise of the DR.
